Has anyone heard of this yet? It's been at the most recent conference? Oy, can't remember the name. It looks pretty cool! Here's the link; www.gwmicro.com/smalltalk
you could get a much higher spec laptop for cheaper and put your own screen reader on it. that's what i would do. My x bought a laptop, 512 ddr ram, 2.4 intel processor, 30 gig harddrive, all for 500 pounds which is less than $1000. It had wireless capability as well, if you look hard enough you will find much cheaper options. It's not a bad machine but it looks to glorified to me.
Probably correct. It just looked cool! Suppose nearly like a pocket pc or PDA. Ever so dinky! lol!
It's the size that makes it expensive. It is a great unit for something small and portable that gives you full computer access. I my self am quite happy with a PDA. Don't need a computer attached to me all the time and the PDA does pretty much everything I need. Now, if they would only update the Maestro to handle the Internet and e-mail I would be very!!!! happy.....
Hey, since it's a true Windows XP computer, can't you install JAWS on it? That would be awesome!
Chet
I like the size, but the specs are nothing great.
For example coz its small, i'd want all my music on it, and quite a few programs and films.
with a 30 gb harddrive and a 1 gig cpu, would it really run xp that well?
You also have to bare in mind that it only has wireless b, which is not as good as wireless g or supper g.
BEN.
I've seen some folks who think it could replace a PDA. I disagree, because it takes forever for it to boot up, and if I just want a phone number, I'd have to wait for a really long time for the computer to start.
GWMicro presented the small talk and the Braille sense to my orginization last week. The small talk is in my opinion excellent if you need a fully functioning computer the size of a pda. Yes, I am quite sure you can run Jaws and anything ele that will run on XP. It is a ruggid device and the case they include permits the unit to be worn around the neck and typed on withouth it falling out of the case. The usb keyboard is quite nice as well. Yes you can buy laptops for half the price but it's the size that is the celler and with wifi and BT built in you just can't beat it. I also saw the Braille sense which is quite the unit. Blows the braille note out of the watter for sure. Personally, for me it's a dell X51V running Mobile Speak pocket. love the thing.
